Mud - Glorious mud
Last weekend, I got just about as muddy as you can – And girls, what great fun it was.
Even the simple fact of shredding those work clothes and putting on your oldest and warmest attire evoked a wonderful feeling of freedom. As soon as we arrived on site we knew we were in for a treat.
The first challenge was 4×4 Off Road Driving – Forget everything you were ever taught by your “on road” driving instructor, because this isn’t your typical drive to work or the local shopping centre. You’re not allowed to grab the steering wheel (Something to do with wanting to keep your thumbs attached to your hands!) all the skill and control has to come from the palm of your hand – Let me tell you that’s easier said then done. Our particular course was a fantastic man made one with hair raising hills and holes to manoeuvre our vehicle around. To be honest, when it was my go, I wasn’t sure who was screaming the loudest – Me or the instructor!!!!!!!! I was pleased to see my competitive nature make an appearance once I was in the driving seat, and apart from stalling the once (Ok, twice) I thought I gave it a pretty good go and left the vehicle with a very satisfied smile on my face.
Next it was onto the Quads – I would have to say at first I was more then a little worried about these beasts – But as with any animal – Treat it with respect and it will reciprocate. We were given a full on safety briefing which I felt all the better for. The instructor rode up front and took us round the designated course – This activity is a test of skill and even though I’m not sure I managed to tame my beast – I had a fantastic time trying.
Clay Shooting – Not something I had ever really given much thought to before – But why not? I loved it!!! . Like with all the other activities, we were given a full safety briefing. The gun was much easier to manage then I expected and I can’t explain the feeling of satisfaction when you manage to hit your first clay and even the next and the next. Boys have been keeping this secret to themselves – Girls it’s time to show them just how good our aim is.
Now it was time to get very, very dirty – Bring out the mud buggies. These fabulous karts were so much fun. There wasn’t a patch left on me that wasn’t covered in mud. You would pay a fortune for a treatment like that in a spa. With just a stop and go pedal these vehicle of fun are very easy to drive. Everybody has to start somewhere – Move over Lewis Hamilton.
Have any of you girls out there gone for a typical stag do and had the hen party of your life?
