Adventure Connections, the South’s leading independent events co-ordinator is pleased to announce record numbers of bookings for its stag and hen weekends. The company has grown by 100% per cent in the past year, and forward bookings for 2009 are looking very robust.

“We’ve worked hard and the number of enquiries coming our way has doubled from last year,” says Adventure Connections MD. “Despite the financial insecurity that is around, we area finding that people are still approaching us but what they are asking for has changed.”

Adventure Connections reports that it is noticing a trend from its enquiries where stag and hens are moving away from the traditional long weekend abroad and concentrating resources on weekends at home – with locations like Brighton and Bournemouth for example, being very popular.

There are numerous benefits to staying in the UK for a stag and hen weekend”. “You want fun, without the inconvenience of travel and having to navigate your way around unfamiliar surroundings. You don’t have to worry about foreign currency, foreign languages. You can arrive at your hotel at a reasonable hour after work on a Friday and get home again on a Sunday afternoon, so you don’t have to commit yourself and your friends to a long weekend. You can relax into your weekend instead of starting out tired and stressed. A weekend near home is more attractive to friends who have work commitments or who are feeling the pinch.”

I mean 5 star luxury, sun bathing on a Sunseeker sports boat, full body massage whilst being fed chocolates by your imaginary fantasy guy, would you really want it? Or should it remain in the realms of your ever demanding mind?

In all honesty if it has it has not affected us! Sure some groups have changed their minds and gone for a more economical option for their stag party, and some have just booked activities, hotels and nightlife here in the UK rather than flying across the world. I think maybe the difficult position with flight operators has certainly not helped with consumer confidence but people are much happier to stay in good old Blighty!

And really why go to Europe when everything you need is laid on a plate with a language you can understand, furthermore the costs of jetting off to the rest of the world has escaladed so much over the last 12 months it’s definitely not cheaper nowadays, not even mentioning the time sitting on your butts waiting for delayed flights!

But I digress…

Has the stag and hen market hit a recession?

Not a chance! You have been waiting for your wedding, planning, hours spent imagining what married life is going to be like and bang you are going to cancel it! Not a chance!

Not even the bravest of souls will air the subject let alone make the announcement. Just imagine ‘darling, I don’t think we should get married just yet as it’s going to cost too much money’. ‘Darling’, in response, ‘of course puppy love just because I have waited since birth to walk down the aisle I’m happy to put it off until you say we can afford it’. Yeh right watch as ‘the proverbial darling’ adds some new ornaments to the shelf, with a, ‘you tight*******, my mother always said you were a#!!??#!!!’

I digress again………

stag and hen recession? nope not a chance, as long as we have sisterhood booking the weddings the stag or hen parties are going to keep rocking!

We have often asked ourselves why the stags leave it till the last minute to organise their stag party, but now the hens are becoming a little last minute themselves. Do you think it’s because of last minute bargains? Is it in today’s society that everything should be on tap when you want it, are people just so busy and forget about it?

Are you part of the above cult? Do you see last minute special offers as the way forward or is your life style just to crazy to get something booked?

In all honesty you are kidding yourself, yes you can pick up a last minute deal, as someone has unfortunately cancelled at the 11th hour, but what happens if this is not the case? And yes we are all busy nowadays but you want to stay somewhere nice, you want to have options, don’t you?

Well do you?

We organise 100’s of stag and hen parties and the very best are the ones planned out well inadvance. The advantages weighed up far exceed winging it by the seat of your pants. Your hotel - of choice, your party activty - of choice and then you can sit back and relax (and get very excited - we get umpteen calls from very excited people, (hens generally). You can then think about which bars or restaurants to visit and all the small bits and pieces, and then you can get all excited again!

So take our advice book it early, a last minute stag or hen party rarely is a stress free process - unless you use an organisation so they can sort it out for you.

I was taught the rumba, or at least a simplified version, which in all honesty I was thankful for, because my husbands tango looked a lot more difficult. I’m disappointed to say my dance partner and I didn’t get very far – I’m still finding it difficult to believe the judges weren’t impressed by us.   

The grand final was impressive to watch and the overall winners, who danced the rumba, were a joy.  The evening was a great success and enjoyed by all, including those who had to leave their dreams of ever being the next Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers back at the reception.

I believe that’s a great way to describe our team here at Adventure Connections – And why shouldn’t we be, we are in the privileged position of making our clients life’s easier and more relaxed at a time when stress levels can go through the roof.  When it’s a hen or stag event we’re organising, 99% of the time our clients are very aware that making a success of the event is extremely important – They want the event to be remembered by friends and family for all the right reasons – What they don’t want to hear on the first anniversary is “Oh my, do you remember the terrible time we had at “Jane’s” hen night, the hotel was disgusting, the entertainment dire, an experience never to be repeated”. We know our clients can sit back, relax and discuss again and again the fabulous experience they enjoyed.   For our corporate clients the right choice of event and venue etc is a reflection on their company as well as ours and a successful event is the only acceptable outcome.

So why have we done this?

Well we are fully aware that as the web changes we will have to change with it. Video content offers our customers a better understanding of who we are and is a more convenient way of showing you how our activities work. Our aim was to improve the experience for new and returning visitors to the website as well as communicate a better feel for our brand. As a result we have opted for professionally produced videos which have a little bit of tongue in cheek humour.

So far feedback has been very positive and these do seem to be a welcome addition to the site. We hope you like the videos greatly appreciate any feedback provided to us good or bad. Why did you use Adventure Connections?
Because you were the only company who (very sensibly) would secure a booking with a deposit. The other companies I tried all wanted the balance in full immediately. You understood that organising a hen party (for example) involves a lot of other people and paying the balance up front is a daft idea.

Were you happy with the service Adventure Connections provided?
Absolutely delighted. From the beginning you were considerate, imaginative and accommodating. Whenever I called, if the person I normally dealt with was unavailable, I was never told to call back, my query was always handled with flair and enthusiasm.

Were you happy with the service our providers delivered?
Again, delighted. Especially on the day of the pop video shoot. Everyone was fantastic, professional and really good fun. They listened to my ideas, even though it became painfully obvious that all my ideas were garbage and they were the ones who knew what they were doing (and they never once said ‘I told you so’)! I honestly hadn’t anticipated it being so much fun and so well organised.

Would you use Adventure Connections again?
Definitely. And I’ll recommend you to friends.

Any comments or suggestions?
I’ve yet to see the actual finished video, but I’m sure it’ll be fantastic. I’ve got no ideas as to how to improve your service, except to say that we could have enjoyed longer in the studio! And that some soft drinks would have been great – you get really hot and thirsty and although we sank a fair amount of champagne, we had to nip out for bottled water. I’d like to say a special thanks to Hayley who was wonderful; Marcos, the choreographer who was patient and hilarious and made us feel like stars; and the cameraman (who I’m ashamed to say I can’t remember the name of) who must have thought we looked like a*******s but always said how fab we were!
